Phoebe Daly-Jones – runner up for Ealing Junior Sports Volunteer of the Year

Ealing Hockey Club are very proud of St Benedict’s Phoebe Daly-Jones, who we nominated as Ealings Junior Sports Volunteer of the Year. Out of hundreds of volunteers and sports clubs in the Borough of Ealing, Phoebe was not only shortlisted to the awards ceremony, but finished as the runner up.  See the official notification at the following link:  Everyone Active – Ealing Sports Awards

Phoebe has made an amazing contribution to our hockey club over the past few years, always going far and beyond what is expected of her. She deserves all the recognition and thanks that we can give her.

Here is the wording that supported Phoebe’s nomination for the award:

“Phoebe Daly-Jones has been a member of Ealing hockey club since its inception 5 years ago. She has played from Under 11s through to Under 16s and has been a crucial member of the first ladies team started this year.

While Phoebe has been an outstanding playing member of the club we are actually nominating her for her commitment, compassion and patience to training the youngest members of club, week in week out, as part of our young leader programme.

Each year we have around 20 children joining in the Under 6/7 age category. For many it is their first exposure to team sport and first time holding a hockey stick. Since the age of 14 Phoebe has been the main coach for this age category. She runs an hour and a quarter training session, each Sunday morning, come sun, rain or snow, making the session fun and engaging. With very little input required from the ‘paid’ coaches at the club she is able to adapt the sessions as required and the children leave at the end of the year ready to play in Under 8 mini tournaments. She engages the children amazingly who all adore and respect her.”

EHC had quite a presence at the awards with our founder and chairman, Jeff Moores also runner up in his category of Services to Sport.

Congratulations to both Jeff and Phoebe!
